Payment Policy:

Patients are asked pay the fee at the time of every visit by check, cash,  credit card or online payment platforms

Cancellation Policy:

Since appointments constitute reserved times set aside specifically for each person, Dr. Komrad asks that patients respect the value of that time. If you do not show up for your appointment, he cannot see another patient instead, unlike other kinds of doctors. Therefore, you will be expected to pay for your appointment even if you do not come; unless you cancel prior to 24 hours before the scheduled time. However, there will not be a charge for a missed appointment if it is missed due to a genuine emergency, or if your time can be filled by another patient at the last minute, or if he can find another available time to meet with you before the end of that work week.

Insurance Reimbursement:

Since, in this practice, Dr. Komrad is not a "participating physician" in any insurance companies, he will not be able to receive payment directly from an insurance company, only from patients themselves. However, patients might be able to obtain reimbursement for part of Dr. Komrad's fees from their insurance companies (see link for "Insurance" elsewhere on this website). Dr. Komrad has also opted-out of Medicare. So, if Medicare is your primary insurance, you will receive NO reimbursement from Medicare for his fees. If you have a secondary insurance to Medicare, you may be able to receive reimbursement from that. Since Dr. Komrad is not a member of ANY private insurance plan or network, you may be reimbursed by insurance at lower rates than for in-network physicians.

Credit Cards and Cash Transfer:

Dr. Komrad accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Zelle, Paypal or Veno

If using a credit card, the credit card company will pass along to you an additional 3% surcharge.

Termination of Treatment due to Non-Payment

Dr. Komrad enters into an implicit contract with a patient to provide professional services in exchange for the fees listed above (subject to modifications).  The patient’s responsibility in the treatment relationship is to pay those fees in a timely manner.  It is important to understand that, if fees remain unpaid, eventually Dr. Komrad reserves the right to terminate treatment (including medication prescriptions) on this basis.  If a patient is in crisis, every effort will be made to help stabilize that crisis before termination, or to obtain additional psychiatric services to stabilize the crisis.  Patients will always been given a reasonable opportunity to rectify the arrears before this step is taken. Terminations will always occur with recommendations for alternative treatment resources and professionals, and be announced in sufficient time to reasonably explore and engage an alternative treatment relationship.  However, Dr. Komrad will not be responsible  for securing that alternative FOR the patient, only to educate the patient or family about alternatives and list specific resources or other providers.

Termination for other reasons

Dr. Komrad reserves the right to terminate treatment with any patient for clinical considerations, related to his determination that the treatment is unproductive or even potentially harmful to either party if it continues.  If a patient is in crisis, every effort will be made to help stabilize that crisis before termination, or to obtain additional psychiatric services to stabilize the crisis.
